Regarding Adoption

Most ferrets that come to the shelter are available for adoption to the  public. We want to stress that ferrets are not the best pets for everyone, and if you are interested in adoption, please take time  to do some research first. These adorable little creatures can dismantle a house in short order and steal anything not nailed down, and convince you that they weren't responsible for the destruction. During this, they can also put  themselves in danger of falling and getting stuck in places they do not belong  The Ferret Rescue Shelter almost always has ferrets available for adoption. Ages of the ferrets can range from 1 - 6 years and there are always a variety of  colors. There are some disadvantaged ferrets - (blind, deaf, or some  that need medication on a daily basis) that are also wonderful pets. Personalities will vary from the Bully to Princess, from the  Love Bug to the Matriarch...and I am sure that you will discover more varying personalities when you adopt.

Regarding Surrender

We realize this is an extremely emotional decision; a decision not  easily or quickly made. Ferret Rescue's only reason to exist is to help  ferrets and their owners. We will provide care and medical attention for  your pet(s) while they are at the shelter, and find a new loving home  as quickly as possible
There is no charge to surrender a ferret(s) - We do ask that you bring  some of their food, and a blanket or bed that they sleep in, unwashed so  that it still has their scent. Beyond that, if you wish to bring  additional items, all is of use  to the shelter.  All incoming ferrets will have a check up by our veterinarian, and their shots will be updated, and any problems will be  treated and corrected. If you have an injured ferret, don't assume that  we won't take it in - we will, and will take care of it for the rest of  the ferrets life if necessary, we have several.
And most important we are a NO-KILL shelter, and all of our volunteers are dedicated to caring for ferrets.
